Salt Fog & Other Accelerated Corrosion Tests Workshop
This workshop is intended for individuals who are running ASTM B-117
salt spray exposure tests or anyone who wants to become more familiar
with the test, preparation of samples, evaluation of exposed specimens,
and operation of the exposure cabinet.
Target Audience: Plating managers, process
engineers, lab personnel
At the conclusion of the course, attendees
should:
Have an understanding of the basic corrosion principles and how they
apply to properly conducting and evaluating the ASTM B-117 salt fog
accelerated corrosion test
Understand operational parameters and the proper method of preparation
of the salt spray solution so they can conduct tests successfully in
their respective plants
Have the necessary information and guidance for properly choosing test
samples, protection of bare surfaces, proper mounting methods, and the
methodology to be employed in evaluating test results
Gain sound professional advice on record keeping, QA/QC tests to be
conducted, and other maintenance requirements of the salt spray
chamber
Be able identify which test is best for specific purposes at their
respective facilities, attendees will learn about all the other
accelerated corrosion tests that are commonly employed on parts that
have undergone metal finishing {other tests include the CASS (ASTM
B-368), Humidity (ASTM D-2247), Corrodkote (ASTM B-380) and the
Kesternich Test (German specification DIN50018)}
